The 2nd Edition of No Time to Teach is now available

No Time to Teach: The Essence of Patient and Family Education for Health Care Providers was published in 2009, with great success. As I’ve said many times, the evidence in the field of patient education has been very consistent: the most effective and efficient teaching methods involve the learner in the process and individualize teaching to the needs of the learner. The best way to involve and individualize is to assess, then teach, evaluate understanding, and if necessary, reteach in another way.

Since 2009 I have been tweeting the latest research in the field from @notimetoteach. The basic principles remain the same. Since publication of the first edition, more has been published about functional health literacy, health coaching, and the use of tablets and apps. It came to a tipping point. Time to update the book.

So here it is in 2016: The 2nd Edition of No Time to Teach: The Essence of Patient and Family Education for Health Care Providers. The references have been updated and trending topics have been expanded upon. The book still respects the fact that if you have no time to teach, you probably don’t have much time to read, either. It summarizes the research into practical, evidence-based advice in just over 200 pages.
