Patients’ perceptions of patient education on psychiatric inpatient wards

Another study, familiar findings. This study provided patient education in several different ways, and interviewed the learners to collect their perceptions. The findings:

“To improve patient education, patients suggested that it should be based on their individual needs and offered with different methods systematically to all patients. . . . Different educational methods should be used, not forgetting interaction between patient and nurse, which was reportedly as an essential element of patient education.”

Yes, the patients said: involve the learner in the process and individualize the teaching.
